I got my first hate comment on my @sparklesofjoy IG account! Have I made it, maa?

But first, in the last week, I've been working hard on my snail mail for September

This month's theme is all about saving and investing- basically, how to grow your money safely

I've decided to stop trying to be like all the other arty mail clubs and lean into real topics that my community has always been interested in. Topics I am personally interested in myself!

So far we have :

September- Saving, investing, financial freedom

October - The Burnout chapter and how to overcome it

November - Loving the body you are in (and how to build self-confidence)

December - This must be Christmas-themed... maybe an Irish Christmas?! as I am there in December. I really want to share my late mother-in-law's Irish soda bread recipe!

January - definitely how to kick ass at your goals

I don't know about you, but I don't have the energy, capacity, or time to sit down and stare at a webinar or course to learn new things anymore. I want to reduce my screen time, not increase it!

Which is why I love reading physical books, something tangible to hold, touch, smell, keep, read, and read again later.

Anyway, back to the troll

I was busy watching Badly in Love on Netflix while folding clothes as my sweet little daughter happily licked the kitchen rubbish bin -_-, and I saw a notification

' This is disgusting. Your mail club is shit'

I blinked for a good while. Then I stared at my daughter, who went on to use her toothbrush to stroke our cat.

Literally 10 mins later, another hate comment

'Yuck, you use AI. Loser'

I did what you would do; we all would. I checked their profiles.

And all I can say is, the people who clearly don't brush their teeth and make questionable choices about what they post on IG are the ones who have the most to say about other people's lives and businesses.

Here's what you do step by step if someone leaves a hate comment on your account

1- Write a full draft comment on their account telling them to spend more time brushing their teeth and less time commenting nonsense on other people's accounts. You can also direct them to a professional counseling service.

2- Once you've got that draft comment out of your system. Delete the draft comment on their account, which you haven't posted yet

3- Delete their ridiculous, unhelpful comment on your social media account

4- Block them. Expeditiously. I want you to block them so fast your finger gets whiplash

5- Go about your day and eat chocolate cake, preferably one thats got gooey chocolate like the one in Matilda.

6- Don't give it another thought

Heres why

1- If someone genuinely gave constructive feedback to improve, they would. Then you can work with that feedback and improve. We all have differing opinions on AI; I welcome an open, healthy discussion about it, not judgemental comments.

2- The person projecting hate and trolling your account is NOT your target audience. They will never buy from you, so there's no point trying to win them over.

3- No sane person leaves weird hate comments. Every reasonable, normal person in my life is far too busy to leave nonsense hate comments on a stranger's account. Audit your social media the way you clean your house - no time-wasting weirdos, please.

4- Starting a new project or business is difficult and feels cringe as it is WITHOUT trolls. Make your life easier and remove them

5- The broken windows theory. Like attracts like. If you leave the troll's stupid comment on your account, it will attract other people like them, as it did literally 10 mins after the first troll left a comment

6- I liken my social media to my digital home.

In your physical home, the one you are sitting in right now, reading this. You have a living room and a sofa, right? Imagine someone walked in your front door uninvited, sauntered right to your sofa, and proceeded to take a big shit right on your couch. What would you do? Call the cops, right?

Same same but different :)

No one has the right to amble over to your digital couch and take a shit on it (quite literally by talking shit... geddit?). Get rid of them, pronto

That's all from me today; I can hear my daughter harassing the poor cat, she keeps trying to put a hair clip on her like she does with her toy horse. Poor cat.
